PHOTO: Red Velvet… Eggs?

Today I attempted to redeem my great bread machine disaster from a few days previous by making red velvet cupcakes (with the help of the lovely Alexa Squire!)  The recipe called for two tablespoons of red food coloring (which turned our cupcakes roughly the color of Clifford the Dog).  Turns out this much dye + oil + buttermilk+ eggs reaps pretty cool/weird results.  We probably delayed our cooking process a good 20 minutes just from sitting and ogling the globular weirdness.  Anyway, I’m pleased to report that the cupcakes turned out just fine, and did not explode or leak brown liquid everywhere (like my castrophe-bread).

On a side note, this post marks the SEVENTH day that Ben and I have posted.  We made it a week! We were just hoping for a couple of days and for our moms to look at it and tell us they were proud. Pat on the back, us.
